Itinerary

  1. 1
    Cape Town Central

Prepare for an early morning pick up at your accommodation in Cape Town at approximately 6:30 am, as we set off for our Hermanus Whale Watching Shared Boat Trip. The driving time is approximately 1-hour, 30-minutes to Hermanus from Cape Town.

  2. 2
    Stop 2

3 hr - Upon our arrival at New Harbour in Hermanus, guests will be briefed about these ocean giants by an experienced qualified whale watching specialist. Guests will board a modern shared boat with toilet facilities and embark on a 2 to 3-hour sea excursion. As soon as a whale is spotted, the skipper will stop the boat so that everyone can see these amazing sea creatures up close. As time goes by, the skipper and crew members will try to spot more whales to maximize a full whale watching experience. After the boat trip, guests will return to the New Harbour.

  3. 3
    Creation

1 hr 30 min - After the boat trip you are welcome to stop for lunch (own account) at one of the many seaside restaurants or you may opt for lunch in the Hermanus Winelands known as Hemel-en-Aarde (Heaven and Earth) for lunch and/or wine tasting. We recommend Creation Wine Estate. Should you prefer a take away instead, speak to your guide who will assist you with recommendations at one of the informal eateries.

  4. 4
    Stony Point Penguin Colony

1 hr - Visit Stony Point Penguins Colony situated in Betty's Bay on your way back to Cape Town. Stony Point is one of the largest African Penguins colonies in South Africa. Benefit from close up chance encounters with one or two of these enchanting creatures.

Amazing trip

A great experience, we saw a lot of whales, the wine tasting was very good value and stony point was amazing too. James was a fantastic guide and told us lots of info and even helped us with planning another day in Cape Town.

An amazing experience

We saw at least six whales and a couple of them up close. Have done whale watching in a few other places but never had them this close to the boat! A truly amazing experience! The captain and crew are super nice!

Fantastic Whale watching and Wine Tasting

Of course, sighting the whales was a great highlight but the care and kindness of our tour guide Reagan and the captain and crew on the boat made the experience fabulous. Reagan then went on to take us to an amazing winery for the wine tasting and delicious lunch. He is very knowledgeable and made sure all of our requests were fulfilled if at all possible. I HIGHLY recommend him and if I come back will request him as our guide.

AMAZING EVEN WITHOUT WHALES

Due to bad weather conditions boat trip was cancelled, but we decided to continue the tour trying to watch whales form the coast. Local tour operator refunded the cost of the boat trip. We could not see any whale but our guide Gavin gave us very good times at Hermanus and at Creation Winery. He was a gentleman, and gave my family and be a complete explanation about everything. We also saw penguins even though the colony was closing when we arrived.

Very pleasant tour to Cape of Good Hope

We were not able to watch the whales due to the bad weather, so we went to Cape of Good hope tour instead. Our host Ray was awesome - very pleasant , knowledgeable and careful.
