We operate a half day tour 45 minutes from Cape Town to see a variety of shark species throughout the year according to the seasons, weather, water temperature and other factors.
During to August to May we operate half day shark tours to either Seal Island or Cape Point as both offer very different opportunities and visibility. Possible shark species can include Seven gill sharks, Mako Sharks, Blue sharks and Great white sharks. The location for the day will be determined by the best shark activity and sea conditions and will be confirmed with you the day before your trip. The trip is confirmed weather dependent and is not shark species dependent.

What To Expect
Apex Shark Expeditions
The crew welcomes you to Simonās Town a mere 45 minutes from Cape Town.Guests will receive a full safety and sighting briefing aboard White Pointer II before departure.
Depart for historical Seal Island which is a 25 to 35 minute boat ride based on sea and weather conditions. Should amazing Cape Point be the location for the trip, the boat ride is +- 50 minutes.
The total duration at sea is 3- 4 hours depending on the weather conditions and shark activity.
Tea and coffee are available at our shark centre in Simonās Town. Browse our unique range of shark-related merchandise and check out our wall of fame. There may be a familiar face or two.

I was looking for a shark cage diving and found Apex being the best choice for me - and I was right! Easy transfer from my hotel with a great chauffeur. Took the boat to Seal Island and then to False Bay where we encountered a couple of Bronze Whaler Sharks. A bit bumpy on the boat which led to me feeling seasick and then the staff were very helpful! Would highly recommend Apex!
Shark Cage Expedition / Wine Tour

This was an extremely fun, educational and exhilarating experienceā¦ The crew was outstanding- explained all aspects of the day - and seeing two new species of sharks was something we will never forget. Watching a seven gill shark and bronze whaler swim by the cage was something I never thought Iād get to do- and Iāve spent the last 15 years diving with sharks around the world. Apex gives you a guide to all the life you may see during the day - and we passed by Seal Island and saw common dolphins riding our bow. Apex is a must do if youāre in Cape Town. But wait thereās moreā¦ we also signed up for the wine tour. After diving with the sharks our driver (who was a great guide) took us to South Africaās oldest winery where we toasted the sharks weād seen - and enjoyed a variety of wine. After three weeks in Africa - this was one of the highlights of our journey. Thank you Apex! We will be back.

August ā22 Shark Cage Diving Trip

Had a great trip out of Simonās Town to Seal Island and then shark cage diving in False Bay. Saw four bronze whaler sharks. All the guides were very pleasant and were happy to answer any questions. Felt very safe throughout the whole experience. The water is very cold, but Apex provides great wet suits, booties, masks. Make sure to pack warm clothes to change into afterwards. Thanks for the great experience Apex!
