Ocean Wonder is an owner run service that offers boat based Ocean Wildlife Encounters. These intimate trips don't follow any set route. Instead, I'm guided by my understanding and ongoing observation of this environment, the creatures in it, and the ever changing water and weather conditions.
These trips are all about finding and, where possible and legal, interacting with some of the amazing creatures that frequent the rich waters around Cape Town.

What To Expect
Besides the amazing animals that we encounter, it’s a really fun boat ride in an incredibly beautiful environment. The views of Table Mountain and Robben Island are amazing too.

The most amazing boat trip ever

I went into this trip envisaging an exhilarating boat ride and the odd marine wildlife encounter but this was so much more. Paul (our guide/captain) had so much knowledge of the sea and how to read the behaviour of the birds and the currents, which he used to amazing effect. We saw seals and dolphins and sun fish but the highlight by far was the pod of 30 or so hump back whales which we found ourselves near as they swam to us. The beauty and grace of these amazing creatures as they passed by will live with me for ever. The video footage I’ve got is incredible. Paul also put a sonar listening device into the water so we could hear them.
I know were incredibly lucky and that not every tour will get to experience so much but it was Paul’s deep understanding of the marine environment which helped to make this happen so he will maximise your opportunity and you can’t ask for more than that

Fantastic trip out with the trip leader Paul. Paul was great, giving us the best experience possible, He has a genuine passion for wildlife and was full of facts and information about the mammals that we seen. We seen some beautiful dolphins up close and also seals which Paul had a real soft spot for. We managed also to see some whales in the distance, but for Paul’s best efforts the whales were not playing ball.
All in all a great experience and I couldn’t rate it highly enough.

This was an excellent tour and Paul our captain and guide took excellent care of us. He is clearly well experienced and was generous was sharing lots of knowledge and information about the ocean, the species and even about Cape Town in general! Because of his experience we managed to see sunfish, baby whales, penguins, seals etc. And most importantly we received a very good safety briefing before kicking off our journey.

Could not recommend more highly! My family and I couldn't stop talking about how much fun this was. The boat ride itself was a blast, the views from the water were breathtaking, and we were thrilled to get an amazing up-close look at so much wildlife! Beyond being extremely knowledgable and adept, Paul himself was also incredibly personable and so much fun to spend a few hours with! You could sense his passion for this field, and we loved that he was truly invested in sharing that with us and making sure we had a great experience out on the water. This is the first thing I'm booking the next time I find myself in Cape Town. Run, don't walk!

Incredible! What an amazing experience. Can't recommend it enough. We saw lots of dolphins, seals, and even three humpback whales! Absolutely a trip to remember. And Paul was a fantastic guide, thanks so much!

The tour was amazing! It was a foggy day so we went out with Paul and decided to come back and wait a bit in the meantime he took me around the marina which was awesome saw a lot of wildlife among the yachts as well, i even saw a seal smashing a huge fish against the water and tearing it apart! Then second try we head off and it was so amazing! Paul is very knowledgeable and has a true passion for nature and wildlife like myself! My goal oddly enough was to see a sun fish and we did!! Two! We also saw huge pod of long beaked common dolphins, dusky dolphins and heavy side dolphins, we saw several humpback whales, penguins out swimming in the ocean, a lot of seals and birds! All in all I definitely recommend the tour!
